Research activities

Scientific productions (including journal papers and international conference proceedings) with high quality and great quantity is the first objective of our research activities.

Our second goal is to develop international / national / regional research projects.

The establishment of Sandwich MS and PhD programs is among the main expected results.

Research valorization and Industrial collaboration

Our ultimate goal is Technology transfer, i.e. exploit the scientific knowledge and apply novel technologies developed in our research for practical problems in several real-world systems (innovating research to Industry 4.0). Hence the development of industrial collaborations with enterprises in Vietnam is our desire at heart.

Seminar: 2 October 2018

Title: An adapting population size approach in the CMA-ES for multimodal functions.

Presenter: Dr. Duc Manh Nguyen.

Abstract: we present an approach for adapting the population size in the CMA-ES. This method is based on tracking the information in each slot of S successive iterations to decide whether we should increase or decrease or keep the population size in the next slot of Siterations. The information which we collect is the non-decrease of the median of the objective function values. We will give some numerical investigations on some multi-modal functions. The numerical results on the BBOB Noiseless Testbed finally show the efficiency of our approach.

Title: DCA for Physical Layer Security in Network

Presenter: Dr. Thi Thuy Tran

Abstract: Wireless communication plays an increasingly important role in many aspects of life. A lot of applications of wireless communication are exploited to serve people’s life such as e-banking, e-commerce and medical service. Therefore, quality of service (QoS) as well as confidentiality and privacy of information over the wireless network are of leading interests in wireless network designs. In this talk, we focus on developing optimization techniques to address some problems in physical layer security. Our methods are relied on DC (Difference of Convex functions) programming and DCA (DC Algorithms) which are powerful, non-differentiable, non-convex optimization tools that have enjoyed great success over the last two decades in modelling and solving many application problems in various fields of applied science.
